Harmonic showcased its content preparation and transcoding solutions for mobile video delivery to various networks and devices, including broadcast, 3G/4G, Internet and sync-and-go, at the just completed Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona.

Harmonic's ProStream 4000 multiscreen transcoder, Rhozet and LIVEcut technologies enable operators to provision live, time-shifted and on-demand content on a mobile device. These systems leverage existing headend investments and help operators deliver the performance required for successful mobile video services.

Among the solutions Harmonic featured were:

  • Live streaming with the ProStream 4000 to mobile phones, smartphones and PC clients.
  • A catch-up TV demonstration on a smartphone in collaboration with Expway, a leading electronic service guide company.
  • Offline content transcoding using Harmonic's Rhozet Carbon Coder.
