Harris SD encoders now certified for Microsoft’s Mediaroom IPTV platform

The Harris NetVX range of H.264/MPEG-4 SD video networking encoders has successfully completed encoder conformance testing for use with Microsoft’s Mediaroom IPTV and multimedia software platform.

Microsoft administered the test as part of the Mediaroom Interoperability and Qualification Lab program, which is intended to enable the ongoing interoperability and compliance of encoders used in Mediaroom deployments.

NetVX SD video encoding allows service providers to offer a platform for their IPTV deployments. It uses encoding at the headend to communicate with the set-top receiving device for the delivery of content to the consumer. The Microsoft Mediaroom platform is now powering about 2 million TV sets worldwide.
