At IBC2009, Harris introduced the Videotek Compact Monitor Series for testing signal integrity across all DTV broadcast signal formats up to 3Gb/s — in a half-rack, energy-saving design. At less than 7in deep, the Compact Monitor is well-suited for today's space-conscious, flat-panel broadcast and production environments.
The series includes the CMN-41, a rasterizer that requires an external monitor, and the CMN-91, a multiformat signal analyzer with a built-in LCD display. Both models can be used in portable or rackmount configurations, with the CMN-91 ideal for field and mobile video production thanks to options such as a portable case and mounting brackets for lithium ion batteries.
The series offers ultra-compact monitors to view waveforms of composite or tri-level external sync references to verify signal integrity. Both models are available in three upgradable versions — SD, HD/SD and 3Gb/s HD/SD — with two active-looping SDI inputs and metering of 16 embedded audio channels or one AES audio input. The CMN-91 also features a diagonal transflective color TFT display (4.41cm x 21.49cm x 17.73cm) that lets operators independently position and scale waveform, vector and thumbnail pictures anywhere on the screen.
This eBook provides both new and veteran shooters an in-depth understanding of the technology that lies between the camera lens and the recording medium and how to maximize a camera's performance.
File-based technologies have replaced video tape methods for a majority of production and broadcast operations. The worlds of AV and IT are coalescing to create new methods and workflows for media
Video compression, editing and displays is an in-depth tutorial on MPEG compression technology, editing MPEG content and evaluating color video monitors written by long-time video expert, trainer and writer Steve Mullen, Ph. D.
