The PortaMic 5.1 offers users professional-grade, 5.1 audio recording capabilities in a compact size.

Holophone introduced the PortaMic 5.1 camera-mountable surround microphone to Europe at IBC2008.

The PortaMic 5.1 offers users professional-grade, 5.1 audio recording capabilities in a compact size and takes little time to master. The product is well-suited for any audio and video application, including in-studio, field recording, documentary and ENG.

What gives the PortaMic’s 2.5in x 1.5in mic head its surround pickup ability are the six separate mic elements arranged to correspond with the typical 5.1 speaker setup in a studio or home theater. The design allows users to capture a discrete surround recording from a single point source with no additional mixing required.
