Ireland’s RTENL selects Zandar multiviewers for network monitoring center

Harris has supplied its Zandar Predator II multiviewers to the RTE Transmission Network Ltd. (RTENL), which offers broadcast transmission service to the broadcast industry in Ireland. The installation is part of a system expansion at RTENL’s Network Monitoring Centre (NMC) in Dublin, Ireland.

Looking to increase the number of displays it could monitor simultaneously in its NMC to support additional upcoming services, such as DTT and DAB, RTENL chose to replace its existing infrastructure (a combination of TV screens and VDU monitors) with four Predator II HD32 multiviewers that are driving four 57in displays.

This setup allows RTENL to monitor up to 128 sources and provides a combination of redundancy and scalable display capacity. The multiviewer solution is used to display off-air analog TV and DTT services from some of the RTENL transmitter sites, as well as to visualize spectrum analyzer and digital PPM information.

The Predator II multiviewer is a scalable, auto-sensing solution for control and monitoring applications that require a flexible architecture. It can be used in smaller control room settings as a standalone system for four to 32 channels. In medium to large control rooms, multiple Predator II multiviewers can be combined as part of a distributed solution.
