Latens will launch its ECO Cable Gateway, the company’s next-generation solution for cable operators, at IBC2009.
The new system is intended to restore the cable operator’s position as a high-value content aggregator by enabling the creation of a fully IP-based environment within the home. With it, cable operators can deploy a single integrated middleware and conditional access system that is capable of delivering next-generation TV services across the whole home network.
New Latens ECO-enabled services could include whole home DVR, remote DVR, extended TV, VOD and social networking integration.
Latens ECO Cable Gateway uses the operator’s existing cable infrastructure without affecting normal cable services. This simplifies digital transition on a home-by-home basis.

MPEG/IP delivery offers lower costs, higher bandwidth, greater efficiency, and new application possibilities over the traditional methods, such as: Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) and RF networks. This paper will attempt to shed some light on the inner workings of the real-time data recovery mechanism: Pro-MPEG Code of Practice #3 Forward Error Correction (CoP#3 FEC). Read Now
