Marantz introduces solid-state audio recorder

Marantz has introduced the PMD661 digital audio recorder, an advanced portable recorder ideal for sports interviews and utility audio recording.

Housed in an aluminum case, the rugged PMD661 has twin XLR mic/line switchable connectors with 48V phantom power for condenser microphones. It offers high-quality mic preamps and records at 24-bit, 96kHz in both stereo and mono. It also records in MP3 at adjustable bit rates.

The unit stores audio on variously sized SD or SDHC flash memory cards. It includes an S/PDIF digital input, 1/8in stereo line-in, RCA stereo line-level outputs, headphone out and USB 2.0 connection for data transfer to a Mac or PC. The PMD661 runs for five hours on four standard AA batteries.
