ARRI has certified the Maximum Throughput Sledgehammer system with its ARRISCAN film scanner.
Sledgehammer is a fast network-attached storage (NAS) device employed by postproduction houses and broadcasters to fulfill their high-speed online storage needs. The ARRISCAN is a high-speed film scanning device, suitable for all applications including digital intermediates, visual effects, restoration and archival.
A dedicated Infiniband-based link provides the transfer pipe between the two systems.
With postproduction moving to 2K and even higher resolution, customers are demanding a turnkey method of scanning film and making the data available throughout their facilities. The combination of the ARRISCAN and Sledgehammer delivers exactly this.
