Modulus Video rolls out MPEG-4 AVC Video Pre-Processing option

Modulus Video is introducing a new Video Pre-Processing (VPP) option for the ME1000 AVC standard definition encoder for broadcast and other video applications.

The new VPP option cleans the source video, enabling the ME1000 to increase image quality and reduce bandwidth requirements using MPEG-4 AVC. VPP for ME1000 incorporates motion-compensated temporal filtering (MCTF) technology from LSI Logic that has been tuned for Modulus Video’s MPEG-4 AVC systems.

MCTF makes it easier for the encoder to compress the video, enabling the ME1000 to improve picture quality and reduce delivery bandwidth requirements. This is important in satellite, telco and IPTV broadcast applications where meeting high quality demands must be achieved within narrow bandwidth constraints.
