Radio Televizija Crne Gore (RTCG), the Montenegrin public broadcaster, has selected the new XEDIO modular production suite from EVS for the full tapeless production and broadcast of its news programs.

The digitization project, managed by the AVC Group, created an integrated production workflow based on tapeless technology that offers instant control of media across the entire network. By selecting XEDIO, RTCG enabled ENG file-based camcorders, servers, databases and archives to be available from a single interface.

Due to its multiformat encoding platform, when the XEDIO encoder is combined with the company’s XStore[2] SAN architecture, the incoming content is instantly available for the whole production chain in high and low resolution video for edit and playout. The suite is also optimized for third-party integration, allowing the exchange of media with Final Cut Pro editors, as well as media backup and restore to and from the DIVArchive content storage management system from Front Porch.

In addition, the CleanEdit nonlinear editor, which is part of the XEDIO suite, gives journalists the possibility to create their news with a single interface. The platform enables mixes, wipes, animated transitions, voice-overs and graphic overlays. All editing actions are virtual and nondestructive with no action on stored media enabling a useful “undo” function or instant preview without any rendering.
