MultiDyne introduces multimode fiber transport

MultiDyne introduced the DVI-5000 Multimode Fiber Optic Link, a transport solution for short runs of high-quality uncompressed DVI signals over one or two fibers.

The DVI-5000 features stereo audio and data, and support for DVI video signals up to WQXGA resolution of 2560 x 1600 over one or two fibers. The DVI Single Link version requires only one fiber for resolutions up to WUXGA 1920 x 1200, while the DVI Dual Link version requires two fibers for resolutions up to WQXGA 2560 x 1600. The system also supports stereo audio and bidirectional data for monitor control and uses no compression, with no user adjustments or calibration.

The system transports a pixel-for-pixel image that is 100 percent transparent without frame dropping, and enables 24-bits for all scan rates without contouring or bit reduction at a high scan rate. It also provides a total throughput of up to 10Gb/s and requires nonproprietary multimode fiber-optic cable with a transport distance of up to 1km or 3300ft.

The DVI-5000 transmitter unit supports a loop-through input and the receiver provides two DVI outputs. It supports EDID from any monitor that is selectable between the loop-through monitor, internal generation on the transmit side or from the monitor on the receiver side.
