Network Electronics to roll out new multi-rate optical converter



The new Network Electronics MR-TR-2.5G supports data rates up to 2.5Gb/s.

Network Electronics will introduce the MR-TR-2.5G multi-rate optical converter to its fiber optical offerings.

To be shown at IBC2005, the MR-TR-2.5G strengthens the company’s position as a supplier for the video contribution network market. In addition to the wide range of signal formats covered by the current MR-TR, the new MR-TR-2.5G also supports data rates up to 2.5Gb/s.

The MR-TR-2.5G enables carriers to build flashlink contribution networks covering SDI, HD-SDI, Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, Fiberchannel and many other formats in combination with STM-16 and OC-48.

The new product offers:

  • Optical O/E – E/O conversion and O/O transponder in one unit;
  • 1310nm, 1550nm, CWDM and DWDM laser available;
  • SDI, HD-SDI, SMPTE 310 MPEG, DVB-ASI, SDH/SONET up to STM-16/OC-48, Gigabit Ethernet, Fiberchannel support;
  • 3R regeneration for supported optical signal formats.
