New version of Avid iNEWS Instinct improves newsroom efficiency

Avid iNEWS Instinct now includes MPEG-4 proxies of HD material that allows journalists to build stories shot in higher resolutions in a lower resolution file, reducing bandwidth demands and providing users with increased flexibility and opportunity for collaboration.
Offering increased speed, control and creativity in the creation of voice-overs and voice-over sound on tape (VOSOTs), Avid announced a new version of its iNEW Instinct (version 2.5). The new software also enables streamlined editing workflows and improved time to air of news stories with MPEG-4 proxy support.
Version 2.5 also includes enhanced audio capabilities, an expanded video format support — including MPEG-4 proxies of HD material that allows journalists to build stories shot in higher resolutions in a lower resolution file, reducing bandwidth demands and providing users with increased flexibility and opportunity for collaboration.
Jim Rogers, senior director of production and resources for the English Network of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation/Société Radio-Canada (CBC/Radio-Canada), has beta tested the iNEWS Instinct 2.5 solution, and commented that his organization is “looking forward to the improvements in Instinct that will allow journalists greater flexibility in news editing.”
Avid iNEWS Instinct 2.5 is available now as a free upgrade for existing customers with a current Avid Support contract.
