NewTek cross-country tour wraps up in NYC

The compact yet fully featured system can go where larger multicamera production trucks can't.
NewTek, a manufacturer of video and 3D animation products, has driven a Mini Cooper car loaded with a Tricaster video production system, 3PLAY multichannel HD/SD slow-motion replay system, and a TodoCast portable satellite transmitter more than 5500mi to prove a point — that its technology is compact yet able to produce high-quality video projects for secondary video channels and Internet streaming applications.
At each stop along the nine-city tour, the car helped produce a special event that was captured with Canon XH G1S camcorders and streamed over the Internet live. People were kept up to date on daily events, special presentations, and crew antics via streaming video, pictures and blogs on the tour Web site.
The complete system in a compact car that includes a multicamera switcher, live virtual set technology, a titling station, audio mixer, three-camera ISO recorder, video editing, and 3D motion graphics. The company envisions such compact yet fully featured systems being able to go where larger production trucks can't.
The TriCaster, a complete television production system in the size of a backpack, enables sports organizations, corporate communications departments, broadcasters, schools and others to provide extended programming and content over the Internet.
As was demonstrated during the tour, a single operator can produce a live show switching between as many as six cameras with two VCRs or solid-state recorders, multichannel effects and virtual sets with keying technology. The system offers more than 200 transitions, titles, audio mixing, iVGA graphics import, picture player, and AVI or WMV video editing.
The NewTek TriCasts America Tour visited Los Angeles (Oct. 27), San Francisco (Oct. 29), Las Vegas (Nov. 2), Dallas (Nov. 5), Nashville (Nov. 9), Atlanta (Nov. 10), Winston-Salem, NC (Nov. 11), Washington, D.C. (Nov. 12) and ended in New York City (Nov. 17).
