At IBC2008, Omneon will showcase the new MediaPort 5320 and 5220 series for Omneon Spectrum and MediaDeck servers and the ProCast CDN file-transport engine.

The Omneon MediaPort 5320 series offers up to four channels of HD/SD record and play in a compact 1RU package, while the 5220 series delivers all of the SD functionality of the 5320 series.

Both make all channels available for either record or play in any combination. Using MPEG-2 codec technology, the units can be deployed in HD and SD ingest applications, as playout servers or as hybrids.

Material recorded with the MediaPort 5320 can be stored either in MXF or as QuickTime files. The MediaPort 5320 supports HD bit rates of 18Mb/s-100Mb/s.

Omneon also will make the European debut of the ProCast CDN file-transport engine. Acquired in its purchase of Castify Networks, ProCast CDN uses acceleration technology for high-speed media file transfers over a WAN. Fully integrated with all Omneon server and storage products, ProCast CDN supports fast point-to-point and point-to-multipoint transfers of large media files over great distances.
