Panasonic launches DV/DVCPRO desktop VTR with IEEE 1394

At IBC2004, Panasonic showed a new desktop VTR - the AJ-SD255 - with DV and DVCPRO recording and playback of DV, DVCAM and DVCPRO cassettes.

An optional IEEE 1394 interface for digital transfers between camcorders and editing workstations is available. The new VTR weighs 15.5 lbs. Two can be installed alongside each other in a single 19-in. rack. With an L cassette, the AJ-SD255 provides up to 184 minutes of recording time. The VTR is equipped with two PCM audio recording channels. VTR controls are accessible via a joystick.

The AJ-SD255 will be available in spring 2005.
