Panasonic to rollout AJ-PCD20 internal, external drive for P2 cards

As an internal drive, the AJ-PCD20 installs in a standard PC-type 5.25in bay drive enclosure, and through its high-speed USB 2.0 or IEEE 1394b interfaces with the host computer.
Panasonic will introduce the AJ-PCD20 internal/external drive for high-speed file transfer of DVCPRO HD, DVCPRO50, and DVCPRO video into nonlinear editing systems and servers at NAB2006.

Users can mount five 8GB P2 cards at the same time and have access to the contents on all five cards for continuous editing of recorded clips in sequence. With the AJ-PCD20, digitizing is eliminated so material can be accessed almost instantly.

As an internal drive, the AJ-PCD20 installs in a standard PC-type 5.25in bay drive enclosure, and through its high-speed USB 2.0 or IEEE 1394b interfaces with the host computer. For field use, the drive is a stand-alone that connects to a notebook computer for editing and playback. The drive is compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000/XP and Apple Macintosh OS X.

The AJ-PCD20 will be available in July.
