Prague’s CESNET selects HaiVision’s H.264 codec

CESNET, the Czech Republic’s National Research and Education Network operator (based in Prague), has deployed several H.264 MAKO-HD encoders/decoders from HaiVision Systems to support synchronous real-time HD video broadcasts over the CESNET backbone.

CESNET operates the system as both a service to members, as well as a real-world environment to support the research and development of advanced network technologies and applications.

HaiVision’s MAKO-HD (model hai1000) provides video at up to 1080p resolution with an end-to-end latency of only 70ms. Delivered over IP, the MAKO’s H.264 compressed video is interoperable with a wide range of appliances, software and systems — from consumer-grade set-top boxes, to soft players to broadcast and telco-grade video platforms.

The solution partner was MediaStream, which serves customers within the Czech Republic.
