The Broadcast Centre (on left) adjacent to BBC White City, now includes new edit suites designed by ATG Broadcast.

Red Bee Media has hired ATG Broadcast to design and build two new edit suites at Red Bee Media’s Broadcast Centre in London. The facility employs more than 1400 staff.

The largest of the two new facilities is an HD video edit suite, which includes a Quantel eQ workstation with external FC Dylan disc storage attached to the company’s existing server system. This has been integrated with a Sony 20in Trinitron color monitor, Barco 42in 1080-native LCD screen, Tektronix test equipment, Harbeth 30 monitor loudspeakers, PMC surround speakers and Axon interface processors.

The second edit suite being installed is an audio post-production facility, complete with a Digidesign Pro-Tools HD2 system, Samsung 32in LCD monitor, Sony DAT tape machine, Denon MiniDisc recorder, Fostex near-field loudspeakers, Dolby E encoder and decoder, and Axon interfaces. The audio post-production suite is scheduled for completion by the third week of June.

An ingest area adjacent to the HD suite is being upgraded by ATG to provide HD facilities for the edit suite, audio suite and existing graphics operation. This will add an additional Sony HDCamSR videotape machine, Kramer 4 x 1 HD-SDI and additional Axon processing modules to the area.
