Ross Video and Practel expand openGear initiative

Ross Video and Practel have joined forces to expand the Ross openGear terminal equipment platform.

Practel designs and manufactures a wide range of professional broadcast equipment, and will join other terminal equipment vendors in supporting the platform.

The openGear program is based on an open architecture that supports up to 10 signal processing cards in a 2RU modular frame. A wide variety of cards are available from terminal equipment vendors supporting the openGear platform, allowing facilities to select the best technology for their particular applications.

With openGear, users are not locked into one manufacturer’s frame standard and modules for their terminal equipment solutions. It also provides a sophisticated control system that allows quick and easy monitoring and control of frames and modules on the network.
