Rycote has released the new Rycote for Video system, a combined microphone shockmount/suspension and compact windscreen aimed at videographers. Designed for use with high-quality camcorder microphones, Rycote for Video provides low-noise performance for video professionals who use physically separate mics on commercial camcorders. All components are planned to ship on June 1, 2009.
The Rycote for Video system includes several new products. The InVision Video shockmount is a lightweight, noise-reducing clamp that uses the firm’s Lyre suspension technology, for use with 19-25mm diameter microphones up to 300mm long. The mounting bar can be freely rotated 360 degrees around the camera mounting point.
The MiniScreen windshield is a lightweight (51g), durable black mesh-fabric windshield offering 20dB reduction of wind noise. A universal rubberized mounting disk holds mics from 19 to 27mm in diameter in place in the windshield, while the optional short-fur Mini Windjammer cover improves the wind attenuation by around another 3dB. The MiniScreen is available in four lengths (10, 12, 14 and 18cm) for different microphones.
The InVision Video Hot Shoe Adaptor and InVision Video 1/4in Adaptor use their namesake attachments found on most camcorders; both include a cable clamp to reduce cable-borne noise.
