The SOOM four-in-one camera support system solves the shooter’s dilemma of which type of camera support to transport to the studio or on-location.

Sachtler will roll out its new SOOM multifunctional camera support system for Mini DV and HDV camcorders during NAB2008.

Developed to solve the shooter’s dilemma of which type of camera support to transport to the studio or on-location, Sachtler’s new SOOM combines four distinct support tools in one compact, easy-to-carry system.

In SOOM TriPod mode, the system’s 75mm bowl can be mated to a Sachtler FSB and features single-stage legs that provide a vertical height range of 27in-56in and an integrated TriSpread midlevel spreader that delivers stability, even over uneven ground.

For more height, the TriPod becomes a HiPod via its integrated center column, the SOOM Tube. The SOOM Tube can telescope vertically to a variable lens height of more than 8ft.

In monopod configuration, the SOOM Tube removes from the tripod to function as a monopod that supports a height range of 34in-62in. For going low, the TriSpread midlevel spreader removes from the standard tripod to become a single-stage baby tripod with a height range of 8in-19in.
