Snell & Wilcox Kahuna switcher wins Queen’s Award

Snell & Wilcox’s Kahuna production switcher has won the 2007 Queen’s Award for innovative technology.

Kahuna was one of the first production switchers to offer simultaneous SD and HD operations in the same mainframe with the same control panel.

The Queen of England presents the Queen’s Award for Enterprise each year. The recipients are chosen on the advice of the British Prime Minister, who is assisted by an advisory committee that includes representatives of government, industry and commerce, and trade unions.

Snell and Wilcox, headquartered in the UK, and other recipients of the innovation award are judged to have demonstrated outstanding and sustained innovation and development, as well as for achievements including invention, design, performance, marketing, distribution and after-sales support.

Kahuna was introduced to the broadcast market in 2004.
