TANDBERG Television achieves significant bit rate reduction with new HD encoder

TANDBERG Television's HD Intelligent Compression Engine
At IBC2004, TANDBERG Television launched a high-definition encoding solution that supports MPEG-4 part 10 (H.264/AVC) and Windows Media 9 Series Advanced Profile.

The TANDBERG HD Intelligent Compression Engine is included in the TANDBERG EN5980 Windows Media 9 Series HD encoder and the TANDBERG EN5990 MPEG-4 AVC HD encoder, both of which were launched at IBC2004. This HD platform builds on the company's SD ICE solution for MPEG-4 AVC and Windows Media 9 Series.

Its HD ICE platform produces HD image quality at lower bit-rates for live TV. The bit-rate reductions can achieve a 60 percent improvement over MPEG-2 performance.
