TANDBERG Television to launch DVB-S2 system

TANDBERG Television will introduce an end-to-end DVB-S2 system for SD and HD satellite broadcasting at IBC2005 in Amsterdam.

The company will launch new satellite modulators and professional receivers designed to maximize the DVB-S2 satellite transmission standard.

The company also has completed its first full DVB-S2 trial. The series of tests performed in conjunction with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in Geneva tested the performance of the TANDBERG Television TT1260 SD MPEG-2 receiver with an integrated DVB-S2 demodulator. The results proved that the new transmission standard can give up to 30 percent increased throughput in a given bandwidth and that the TANDBERG professional receiver is compliant with the DVB-S2 standard.
