U.S. Open to be seen through Canon, Fujinon lenses

Mobile production companies NEP Supershooters and NCP are once again supporting the broadcast of this year’s U.S. Open Tennis tournament in HDTV. Various rounds of the tournament are being broadcast on Tennis Channel, CBS Sports and on ESPN2. CBS Sports will cover the finals weekend.

A total of 52 lenses are being used overall at the tournament, most from Canon (although there are about a dozen from Fujinon as well), on more than two dozen Ikegami and Sony HD cameras.

Most of the HDTV field lenses being used at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows, NY, are Canon lenses, including the new HJ14ex4.3B wide-angle portable HDTV EFP lens (introduced at this year’s NAB) and the new XJ27x6.5B high-end HDTV studio lens.
