Visual TV employs wireless HD cameras at Rugby World Cup

Visual TV, a French production specializing in sports and special events, used LinkHD systems from Link Research to cover the Rugby World Cup. Most of the events took place in French stadiums.

Visual has already completed several major large-scale events with multiple wireless HD cameras, including the Route de Rhum yacht race at St. Malo with nine HD wireless links, in the past year.

LinkHD offers a 50ms delay in HD, a major advantage in sports production.

At the rugby venues, Visual TV established an all-digital production chain, which included cameras, motorbikes, long-range RF links and stabilized shoulder-held cameras. Visual has also worked on the Paris Dakar Rally, the Cannes Film Festival and a number of French TV shows.

Link Research offers a choice of RF operating frequencies for its systems and an option to add camera control, which works with the camera manufacturer’s OCP. The company’s newest product, the Link L1500 transmitter, was shown at IBC2007.
