WAWS-TV completes ENG relocation with RF Central

WAWS-TV, the FOX affiliate in Jacksonville, FL, has converted its microwave equipment in compliance with the BAS relocation mandate with the help of RF Central.

Over a seven-day period, RF Central personnel replaced three transmitters and two receivers as well the station’s remote control unit. In addition, two of WAWS’s mobile trucks required a full Nycoil replacement, according to Joe Brown, the station’s news system engineer.

With BAS relocation impacting many within the broadcast industry, RF Central has increased its integration services to support 2 GHz conversion and help stations get through the process cost-effectively. The company has inventory ready for installation with experienced technicians who are able to work with various manufacturer equipment and ready to travel anywhere in the continental United States via field service trailers. RF Central also offers loner trucks while work is completed on live truck microwave integration. This helped WAWS continue to provide news coverage without interruption during the weeklong upgrade.
