Allegro debuts encoder, transcoder for mobile TV

Allegro last week debuted its AL1010 encoder and AL2010 transcoder, designed for DVB-H, 3G, ISDB-TB and Internet TV applications.

The AL1010, which accepts a variety of SDI and analog inputs, is designed for situations where only the uncompressed signal feed is available, while the AL2010 accepts MPEG-2 compressed inputs and is designed for newer deployments where input programs are already available from a live feed. Both models deliver audio and video output in several formats simultaneously, adapted to 3G, DVB-H, ISDB-TB and Internet TV (H.263, MPEG-4 Visual, MPEG-4 AVC, AMR, aacPlus v1/v2). Other features include interoperability with various streaming servers and redundancy with doubled hardware, N+P flexible schemes (manager free) and network teaming.
