ATSC members select Rast as new chairman of the board

Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) members have elected Robert Rast to be the 2005 Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Rast has extensive executive experience in nearly every aspect of DTV and played a key role in the creation of the Grand Alliance digital television system, which led to the development of the ATSC DTV Standard (A/53).

Four board members also were elected, including:

• Ed Barrett, Sony
• Wayne Luplow, Zenith
• Mike McEwen, Canadian Digital Television (CDTV)
• Brian Smith, Philips
