Audemat, TeamCast develop DVB-SH mobile TV test unit for Alcatel-Lucent

Alcatel-Lucent has contracted Audemat and TeamCast to develop a test and measurement and mobile metering device for DVB-SH-based mobile TV delivery. Audemat at last week’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, demonstrated a prototype of the unit, called the NAVIGATOR DVB-SH.

The unit, which Audemat and TeamCast are developing in partnership with UDcast, will be capable of measuring and determining the reception quality of a mobile DVB-H and DVB-SH TV signal. Audemat is lending its expertise in mobile test and measurement to the development efforts. The unit is marketed toward operators, broadcasters and manufacturers interested in enabling the delivery of mobile TV via the DVB-SH technology, a hybrid terrestrial/satellite scheme that can offer coverage in more difficult geographic terrains.

A production version of the unit will be exhibited at NAB2008.
