Bush nominates Tate for commission vacancy

President George W. Bush nominated Deborah Tate Nov. 9 to become the fifth member of the FCC.

If approved by the Senate, Tate will serve out the remainder of the term expiring June 30, 2007, left open with the resignation of former commission chairman Michael Powell.

Tate has worked in state government where she was the director of the Tennessee Regulatory Authority.

Bush also sent to the Senate a nomination for reappointment of Michael Copps to the commission for a five-year term, which began last July.
