DIRECTV launches Sat-Go portable satellite TV system

In a new twist on the concept of mobile TV, DIRECTV has launched Sat-Go (Satellite-to-Go), a briefcase-sized portable satellite TV system. The unit, one of the first of its kind in the world, is available for about $1500.

The unit features a 17in LCD monitor with an integrated DIRECTV receiver, flat antenna and replaceable/rechargeable Li-ion battery, along with AC/DC adaptors for home and car use. It was designed to make it easy for customers to receive DIRECTV programming within minutes, provided the user is within range of the DIRECTV signal. The LCD screen can also double as an in-home DIRECTV receiver and television.
