Envivio rolls out entry-level mobile TV encoder

Envivio recently introduced a telco-grade entry-level multichannel mobile TV encoder for 3G network operators, the 4Caster M4. It enables operators to distribute high-quality audio and video to mobile phone and mobile television subscribers.

The 1RU, quad-channel 4Caster M4, designed for 2.5G, 3G and 3.5G networks, as well as next-generation networks such as 4G, WiFi and WiMAX, supports multiple bit rates, resolutions and standards. It features high-density 3GPP, 3GPP2, H.263 and H.264 encoding; management and output of up to three simultaneous subscriber profiles per channel; constant bit rate (CBR), capped variable bit rate (VBR) and available bit rate (ABR) encoding control modes; and network-aware bit rate control capabilities and live multirate switching. It supports most video handsets currently deployed in mobile networks.

The 4Caster M4 is available now.
