Telefónica España has tapped Ericsson to deliver a mobile TV and video service to its customers. Ericsson will serve as the systems integrator on the project, developing and deploying the service for the Spanish telecommunications company.
The new service will give end users easy access to Telefónica's mobile TV content and services. The company already offers its mobile TV service on the Emoción portal, featuring more than 20 live channels and more than 2000 video-on-demand clips. Ericsson will add several new features, most notably a channel selector that allows viewers to change mobile TV channels with one click and an electronic programming guide (EPG).
The telco will initially target its residential customers.
