FCC extends filing deadline for first-round DTV channel election form

Responding to a request from the Association for Maximum Service Television, the FCC Dec. 17 extended the filing deadline for the first round DTV channel election forms until Jan. 27.

MSTV sought the extension for the filing of FCC Form 328 until mid-January to give stations more time to analyze and prepare for the filing because until now, stations have devoted most of their time and effort to ensuring proper pre-election certifications.

Additionally, the association argued that the extension would allow stations to review the FCC’s new Table of Station Assignment and Service Information. It also contended the delay would give stations electing channel allotments in the first round adequate time to use software it’s completing to help stations evaluate channel election options and interference consequences.
