FLO technology moves toward standardization

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) has approved the technical specification for FLO (Forward Link-Only), a technology for the delivery of mobile multimedia.

The transport specification is being published as TIA-1120 following approval by the TIA’s TR-47.1 Engineering Subcommittee.

The standard specifies the framing formats and procedures for the delivery of application service packets securely over the FLO Air Interface. It is another important stepping stone toward the complete open standardization of FLO technology.

The Transport Specification is the fifth FLO standard published by the TIA and follows the publication by the TIA in October 2006 of three Minimum Performance Standards and the Test Application Protocol for both Devices and Transmitters, and July 2006’s publication of the Air Interface Specification as TIA-1099.
