Fuji TV turns to SeaChange digital video platform for HD service

Japanese broadcaster Fuji TV has begun delivering high-definition programming via communication satellite to viewers across Japan using SeaChange’s digital video systems.

SeaChange’s Broadcast MediaLibrary/MediaClient (BML/MCL) digital video platform is at the core of Fuji TV’s HD delivery operation. The BML video servers provide fault-resilient storage of any type of media file, and SeaChange MCL codecs support video output ranging from SD and HD play-to-air to broadband streams.

Designed to support a wide range of automation systems, the SeaChange platform at Fuji TV is working in conjunction with Harris technology.

The deployment of Fuji TV’s HD platform is part of its strategy to transition to all-digital terrestrial broadcasting by 2011. Kondo Broadcast Systems in Tokyo is providing systems integration services for the project.
