Globecomm recently introduced the SkyBorne Mobile media processing center for mobile TV. An extension of the company’s SkyBorne IPTV platform, it is aimed at providing users with a cost-effective, standards-based entry path into mobile video services.
The IP-based media processing center includes MPEG-4 AVC encoders, a digital rights management (DRM) scrambler, IP encapsulator, single frequency network (SFN) adaptor and distribution via satellite or fiber to the transmission tower network. Depending on a client's requirements, it can be configured for multiple distribution needs, from direct-to-home television origination to IPTV content acquisition, packaging and distribution. It is designed to be adaptable to mobile TV standards as they evolve.
