Legend Silicon, Sharp develop integrated SIP for China’s DTTB standard

In anticipation of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Legend Silicon and Sharp have teamed to develop an integrated single-chip solution enabling mobile devices in the People’s Republic of China to receive China Digital Television Terrestrial Broadcasting (DTTB) System Standard (GB20600-2006) terrestrial digital television broadcast signals.

The LGS-8GS6 chipset integrates Legend Silicon's demodulator, which is compliant with the DTTB standard, the Sharp silicon tuner and time de-interleaver memory into a System-In-Package (SIP) 48-ball grid array (BGA). Designed to meet the low-power and space-constrained requirements of mobile devices, it will be used by manufacturers to build terrestrial digital television solutions for both fixed and mobile devices.

Samples of the chipset are now available.
