Mobixell Networks introduces new generation of RMSC multimedia hub

At CTIA 2009, Mobixell introduced Rich Media 7, the latest version of its Rich Media Service Center (RMSC) multimedia hub. The new release allows mobile operators to consolidate all media adaptation and services (video, MMS, offline content and Web rendering) on a single platform, which also includes tracking, streaming and PC-to-mobile services. In addition, key enhancements to the original RMSC system include Web rendering for PC-comparable Web browsing and optimized mobile video based on the available handset, connection and network.

Rich Media 7 automatically adapts multimedia content to a user's specific device without manual intervention. It also supports Mobixell's application programming interface (API) to incorporate mobile advertising — for example, enabling operators to add pre- and post-roll advertising to a subscriber's video or MMS communications.

"By incorporating four multimedia adaptation systems into a single system, mobile operators will be able to save up to 50 percent on operating and capex costs," said Mobixell associate VP of marketing Simon Darr. "Operators can roll out the full gamut of multimedia services with ease, as well as introduce new ad-funded business models. Our solution makes all types of content available to the widest possible base of users, irrespective of their handset, network or connection speed."

Current RMSC customers can upgrade to the new system.
