Portugal Telecom Group subsidiary SAPO has tapped Alcatel-Lucent to provide the video mixer solution supporting its new SAPO Videos mobile service, one of the leading user-generated content (UGV) video portals in the country. Until now, the portal was only available to Web users.
The Alcatel-Lucent solution acts as a programmable gateway between mobile user handsets and the Web portal, and adapts to user interaction on mobile handsets, providing contextual and personalized video playlists. In addition to enabling SAPO to offer videos to mobile viewers, the integration of the Alcatel-Lucent video mixer will boost creativity for alternative business models such as sponsored channels with dedicated program grids and mobile-targeted advertising like pre-roll and post-roll video advertising inside the playlist.
