Rohde & Schwarz has expanded its R&S SFU broadcast test system by adding two real-time coder options for digital TV systems.
The R&S SFU can now be used to develop and test HDTV and mobile TV receivers for ATSC Mobile DTV and DVB-T2, including modules and components. In addition, test labs can use the R&S SFU broadcast test system as a reference signal source for compliance tests and the certification of user equipment.
Operating in full compliance with ATSC Mobile DTV, the R&S SFU-K18 real-time coder option generates signals with video and audio content in real time. Coding parameters are user-selectable. The integrated transport stream generator of the R&S SFU can be used as a source for the multiplex content to be transmitted, which simplifies the test setup.
When equipped with the R&S SFU-K16 real-time coder option, the broadcast test system can also generate signals for DVB-T2 – the new European standard for terrestrial digital TV.
