TANDBERG, Broadcom show end-to-end encoding solution

TANDBERG Television's EN5990 now supports HD MPEG-4 part 10.

TANDBERG Television and Broadcom have made the first live demonstration of an end-to-end advanced encoding solution supporting HD MPEG-4 part 10 (H.264/AVC).

The companies showcased interoperability between Broadcom’s set-top box decoder reference platform and TANDBERG Television’s EN5990 video encoder, both real-time, decoding and encoding platforms for MPEG-4 part 10.

Support for MPEG-4 part 10 allows broadcasters to offer high definition services, which in turn, provides significant cost and business advantages. The demonstration, depicting end-to-end delivery from head-end to the set-top box took place earlier this month the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
