TV Azteca turns to Media Links optical transport for intracity HD delivery

TV Azteca, Mexico’s second largest television broadcaster, has selected the Media Links MD-003 transport platform to interconnect key broadcast and sports venues throughout Mexico City.

TV Azteca will deploy the MD-003 to deliver HD-SDI and compressed DVB-ASI signals to several key transmission facilities. The MD-003 offers a seamless transition between DVB-ASI, SDI and uncompressed HD video signals by automatically detecting the video format. TV Azteca will be able to upgrade its existing HD contribution infrastructure by integrating the MD-003, enabling the company to transport live uncompressed events back to its main production facility.

The MD-003 3RU and 1RU multichannel, multiservice video transport system provides a reliable uncompressed HD/SD/ASI video transport system over dedicated fiber infrastructure. The system uses error correction, fast protection switching and integrated CWDM/DWDM filters with optical protection switching.
