ATSC announced Jan. 22 the formation of two new teams to help implement ATSC 2.0 and the Mobile Emergency Alert System, known as M-EAS.

The ATSC 2.0 implementation team, chaired by David Siegler of Cox Media, and the M-EAS implementation team, headed by Jay Adrick of Harris, are charged with driving these next-generation technologies towards introduction to consumers.

This marks the first time ATSC has set up implementation teams to push along adoption of its standards by the market.

In this podcast interview, Mark Richer, president of ATSC, discusses the reason for setting up the committees and where ATSC standards development is headed.
