Omneon Video Networks has announced that Television Metropolitana Canal 22, one of Mexico’s major networks, has integrated an Omneon Spectrum media server system into its Mexico City facility for commercial, promo, network ID, and program playout.
In addition to providing a foundation for tapeless operations, Omneon said the new server system allows Canal 22 to streamline its master control timing workflow, enhance the quality of its on-air signal, and improve interaction between playout and the network’s storage, traffic, continuity, and editing departments.
The Omneon service interfaces with NVerzion automation to control Canal 22’s current on-air channels, Channel 22 National and Channel 22 International. The system installed at Canal 22 features a storage capacity of 2TB, or 139 hours of MPEG-2 playout at 25Mb/s. The server’s open architecture allows it to support a broad variety of third-party applications for control and transmission, media management, archiving, and collaborative production. As a result, Canal 22 is able to export final programs and promotion spots from Apple’s Final Cut Pro and Leitch VelocityQ editing stations to the Omneon Spectrum system.
