London's Garden encodes with Digital Rapids StreamZHD

Digital Rapids StreamZHD can capture HD or SD video in its native format or format convert it on the fly from HD to SD, SD to HD or HD to HD during capture.

The Garden, a London facility specializing in encoding for DVD and video-on-demand (VOD), has purchased two Digital Rapids StreamZHD encoding servers.

Following a job from United International Pictures to encode each of 100 titles with up to four different languages in just two weeks, the Garden currently provides encoding for up to 10,000 minutes of features per month. By encoding in real time, the StreamZHD encoders dramatically increase the speed and quality of the encoding process.

For VOD, the Garden supplies the hotel industry worldwide with MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and VC-1 program and transport streams of the latest box office hits and trailers.

Digital Rapids StreamZHD can capture HD or SD video in its native format or format convert it on the fly from HD to SD, SD to HD or HD to HD during capture. StreamZHD not only supports uncompressed video formats, it also supports real-time hardware wavelet-based JPEG2000 compression in both lossless (typically 3:1) and lossy configurations.
