Qrix Communications, a cable operator in Korea, is launching a television video-on-demand service with SeaChange International. Wide selections of on-demand movies, as well as subscription VOD packages, are on the programming line-up planned for digital subscribers in Seoul.
Across Asia, television operators are exploring and deploying new on-demand television services, said Chris West, SeaChange's vice president of Asia Pacific sales. The company has been working closely with Qrix Communications to accommodate specific technical and business requirements, incorporating local set-top boxes and software with the SeaChange server systems.
Prior to fulfilling its strategy for VOD services, Qrix launched a multichannel near-VOD service in 2003 to its 450,000 subscribers with SeaChange’s Movie system.
