SeaChange outlines IPTV strategy at London’s VideoForum

SeaChange recently focused on its IPTV strategy at the 15th VideoForum in London. In a conference session, “IPTV: Opportunities in a Video World,” George Breen, president of company’s interactive division, presented a preview of the next wave of applications expected to drive new revenues and attract subscribers, including games and DVD-on-demand.

Breen said SeaChange’s middleware, currently serving more than 5 million homes globally, enables broadband operators to extend new on-demand and broadcast video applications to any IP-connected device. Popular applications include games-on-demand and a DVD-on-demand application and content browser.

SeaChange’s Game Now system allows broadband operators to create communities for gaming. It links VOD and back-office services through middleware to support stream-based, client-based and DVD-type games. These games can be multiplayer, action, adventure, trivia, sports, 2-D, 3-D and arcade style.
